"I can't check it out!" |
Julie Belz and the other fabulous staff in Ellsworth came up with a terrific skit to promote their summer library program, but this could be used to promote the library any time of year! Here's what she says:
"I wrote our skit based on "
A Soup Opera"
by Jim Gill. We did "A Book Opera". The Cat in the Hat
came into the library looking for books. He was helped by several book
characters - Rapunzel, Little Red Riding Hood, Captain Underpants, Pete the
Cat, the president and a librarian.
The kids helped with the singing
part-"I can't check it out!" along with the cat in the hat.
Finally the librarian asked what was wrong...well, he didn't have a library
card. So the librarian helped the Cat get his card. The Cat in the
Hat checked out the books and read happily ever after! It was a lot of fun and the kids really got into the singing
part."
