Kids dancing at Hudson Beach Party What do you do when school is out in your community? In Hudson, youth services staff Carol Hudson and Mary Davis, along with 5 adult and 8 teen volunteers, offered a fun day last month. This was the first time for them, and they were happy with the success of the event!

73 kids in grades K-5 were there from 10 am to 4 pm. As you can imagine, there were lots of details to manage, and Carol worked hard to choreograph the transitions to keep things from descending into chaos. A variety of activities (games, dancing, stories, a movie, and a visit from Amelia Bedelia) kept things hopping.
It's hard to go wrong with a visit from Amelia Bedelia!
Aside from some planning and technical problems with the movie, the staff, volunteers and kids were all excited about how well this program went. Next time--and there
will be a next time--they will require pre-registration to ease some of the anxiety of the unknown.
